Collection to be Taken Up for Louisiana Flood Relief Author: Diocese of Fall River In the News 14 Sep 2016 Share Last month, Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, sent a letter to all bishops asking that a national collection be taken up for the humanitarian and institutional Church needs created by the extreme flooding occurring in Louisiana. Archbishop Kurtz requested that this special collection be taken up the weekend of September 17-18, 2016. In response, Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V., has authorized this special collection for parishes in the Fall River Diocese on that weekend and encourages that it be taken up to provide support to those impacted by the devastating floods.
