Sullivan, Timothy

ATTLEBORO, MA — Timothy B. Sullivan, founder and president of School Family Media, Inc., has been named as the new President of Bishop Feehan High School. The appointment of Sullivan, a graduate of the school’s Class of 1987, was announced by Diocesan Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael Griffin with the approval of Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V. He will replace current Bishop Feehan President and longtime school leader Christopher Servant, who will retire on June 30, 2016.

Sullivan’s duties will focus on a wide range of responsibilities including: maintaining and continually developing the school’s Catholic identity; strategic planning; advancement; communications; alumni relations; financial oversight; and collaboration with the school principal in further strengthening the school’s academic excellence.

“Mr. Sullivan brings a wealth of experience from five years of teaching at a Catholic high school in the Bronx, to an additional 20 years of business experience as an entrepreneur focused on building school communities and funding school programs and activities,” said Griffin.

“He is also a person of faith, active in both his parish and at Bishop Feehan through the years. I am confident he will provide the leadership necessary to guide this excellent school into an even brighter future.”

In fact, Griffin noted, Sullivan has been actively involved with diocesan Catholic schools for over 10 years now. He has served on the Principals’ Advisory Board at St. John the Evangelist School in Attleboro and on the President’s Advisory Council at Bishop Feehan, where he has chaired the Strategic Planning Committee. He and his wife have also been long-time supporters of Feehan’s scholarship program and the Fall River diocesan St. Mary’s Education Fund (now FACE), for which Tim has been a local committee member for six years.

In his business career, Sullivan founded the Wrentham, Mass.–based School Family Media, publishers of PTO Today magazine and schoolfamily.com and teacherlists.com. Founded in 1999, the company now has 33 employees and is widely recognized as a leading resource and voice for increasing parental involvement in education. School Family Media was recognized by Inc. magazine as one of the 500 fastest-growing private companies in America.

A 1991 graduate of the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, Sullivan served for five years after his graduation as a teacher and administrator at St. Raymond High School for Boys in Bronx, NY, with a special focus on the school’s at-risk populations and the school’s student-sponsor scholarship program.

“I’m immensely thankful to Bishop da Cunha, Dr. Griffin and the Bishop Feehan president succession committee for trusting me with the responsibility to lead such a special institution,” said Sullivan. “The vision and charism of the Sisters of Mercy and the dedication of hundreds of laypeople like Mr. Servant created the Feehan we know today. I’m excited to join such a talented team of faculty and staff, as we build on that foundation, honor it, and reach even higher for the Feehan of tomorrow.”

Tim and his wife, Ellen Healey Sullivan, also a Feehan graduate, reside in Attleboro. The couple’s four children all attend diocesan Catholic schools, two boys at Bishop Feehan and a son and daughter at St. John the Evangelist School.

Griffin said the search process involved a committee of alumni, parents, teachers, administrators and board members from the school working in collaboration with the superintendent and assistant superintendents of the Diocesan Catholic Schools Office, with the final approval of the appointment given by Bishop da Cunha.

Griffin added, “I also want to express my gratitude to Christopher Servant, whose commitment to Bishop Feehan over 44 years, and his leadership as Principal and President over the past 15 years, have greatly strengthened the school’s foundation and guided its growth toward fulfillment of its spiritual and academic mission.”
